How a uncle’s box truck turned into Lighthouse Van Lines
My name is Frank Delvecchio, and I have been hauling Hackensack furniture since I was a teenager riding shotgun in my uncle’s box truck. He worked the Bergen County circuit on weekends, and I was the kid he handed the heavy end of every dresser. By the time I had my own license I already knew which Teaneck stairwells turn ugly in July and which River Edge driveways ice over first in January. That is where Lighthouse Van Lines really began — not in 2013, but on those Saturday runs along Main Street.
Then came fifteen years on the payroll of a big North Jersey van line, where I worked my way up to running crews. The trucks were nicer and the routes were longer, but I kept watching the same things go wrong: a final bill that nobody warned the family about, a temp crew that called out the morning of a closing, a dresser that came off the GWB ramp with a fresh gouge in it. I tucked away every one of those failures, figuring that one day I would build the opposite.
I finally hung my own sign in 2013.
